(Seoul = News 1) Reporter Dae-hyun Moon = Badminton women’s doubles Lee So-hee and Shin Seung-chan (27, Incheon International Airport) and Kim So-young (29, Incheon International Airport)-Gong Hee-yong (25, Jeonbuk Bank) are side by side at the Danish Open Badminton Championship 16 entered the river.

Kim So-young and Gong Hee-yong, who won the bronze medal in women’s doubles at the Tokyo Olympics, competed in the women’s singles round of 32 at the World Badminton Federation (BWF) World Tour Super 1000 Danish Open held in Odense, Denmark on the 20th (local time), between Julie McPherson-Sie of Scotland. They defeated Aera Torrance 2-0 (21-8 21-12) and advanced to the round of 16.

The world’s fourth-placed Sohee Lee and Seungchan Shin, who also competed together, neatly defeated India’s Ashwini Ponapa and Reddy Shikijo 2-0 (21-17 21-13) and advanced to the round of 16.

They will play the round of 16 after taking a day off. Kim So-young and Gong Hee-yong will face Japan’s Yuki Higashino and Arisa Fukushima, and Lee So-hee and Shin Seung-chan will face Indonesia’s Nita Violina Marwa-Putri Saika.

In the women’s singles event held earlier, Kim Ga-eun (23) and Ahn Se-young (19, Samsung Life Insurance) advanced to the round of 16. Ga-eun Kim will compete against Christie Gilmore of Scotland, and Se-young Ahn of Russia Evgeniya Kochetskaya will compete for a ticket to the quarterfinals, respectively.

On the other hand, Gwanghee Heo (26, Samsung Life Insurance) of the men’s singles failed to advance to the round of 16.

The badminton team, which did not participate in the tournament last year due to the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), is aiming for the women’s singles and women’s doubles championships.
