September 25, 2021 4:14 PM Herstal

the Yonex Belgian Junior took place at the Preall To Herstal in this month of September. Organized by the Belgian Francophone Badminton League in collaboration with the local club, the Coq Mosan, the Belgian Open open to U19 international top took place on three days. But this editing remained particular. Normally, the tournament brings together nearly 170 participants but only had a few hundred this weekend, Covid obliges.

However, we did find there many talents foreigners but also Belgian starting with Charles Fouyn, one of the best Walloons on the circuit in its category. The badist of 16 years old native Jodoigne is actually 2nd best European in U17. Charles had written history two weeks ago by becoming the first Belgian medalist at a Euro U17 of Badminton since he had won the bronze on Slovenia.

There was not no Liegeois during this tournament but some participants live and train in the Province. Karla Henry, 17 years old, and Baptiste Rolin, 16 years old respectively from Nivelles and Dinant. With their friend Arnaud Huberty, there were three of them in this tournament to be part of the Training center for sports elites of the Belgian Francophone Badminton League situated at Angleur, in addition to their respective clubs. They train 3 to 4 hours a day on weekdays outside of their class hours. This kind of international tournament is obviously a boon for both teammates.

Some large nations like France or Great Britain had not known or been able to make the trip. But the organizers remain satisfied with this edition which took place in a particular health context.
