ATP – Indian Wells> Shapovalov: “I feel like a completely different player this year”

Denis Shapovalov is a real enigma. For the moment unable to show a minimum of regularity over several weeks despite a talent that is obvious, the Canadian nevertheless affirms that he has completely changed this year and this since his semi-final disputed at Wimbledon against the future laureate Novak Djokovic.

However, since this journey, the 22e world has stalled for the umpteenth time, posting a record unworthy of its rank and potential: only three wins for six losses.

Asked during the pre-tournament press conference, Denis preferred to be positive, even if it means veiling his face a little: “It’s been a while since the last edition. It’s kind of weird coming back here because it’s kind of where it all started. I feel like a whole different player this year, I have a lot more experience and I’m a lot more relaxed on the court. So I know exactly what to expect from myself and overall I’m happy with how I’ve been able to move forward since everything came to a standstill due to the pandemic. “
