Arsenal Vs Villa: The Gunners Win 3-1

Arsenal appear convincing to pick the full points when hosting Aston Villa. dominant play, The Gunners won 3-1.

Arsenal host Aston Villa at the Emirates Stadium, Saturday (10/23/2021) early in the morning WIB in the Premier League. Mikel Arteta’s side dominated from half-time and were already 2-0 up through Thomas Partey and a Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang penalty.

Emile Smith Rowe strengthened the host’s advantage in the 56th minute. Villa tried to get up and had scored in the 82nd minute through Jacob Ramsey. But it was too late for Villa to try to save points.

Arsenal also picked up three points and continued their unbeaten run in the Premier League to six games. Aubameyang et al won four wins and two draws in that period.

The north London club are now up to ninth position with 14 points from nine matches. Villa are currently in 13th place with 10 points.

The course of the match

Arsenal immediately threatened in the fourth minute. Bukayo Saka’s cross leads to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and tries to finish with an overhead kick. But his effort actually made the ball back to Saka and was struck, but ended up rebounding.

Arsenal had broken into Villa’s goal in the eighth minute. Alexandre Lacazette won the duel with Ezri Konsa Ngoyo then passed to Aubameyang, who finished the chance into the net. But the referee annulled the goal because he considered a violation by Lacazette.

Barely. Arsenal almost scored in the 20th minute, when Thomas Partey snatched a wild ball that was swept by the Villa defense against Saka’s free kick. His shot just hit the crossbar.

GOAL! Partey brought Arsenal the lead in the 23rd minute. From a corner kick, Emile Smith Rowe’s cross was headed by Partey. His header bounced off the ground and was unstoppable by Emiliano Martinez.

Arsenal wasted a good chance in the 30th minute. Villa lost the ball in the middle and Arsenal hit back. Nuno Tavares escaped on the left and crossed for Saka on the right who ran alone. Just facing the goalkeeper, Saka’s kick was blocked by Martinez.

Villa continued to be pushed and struggled to develop the game. Arsenal had another chance from a corner in the 45th minute when Partey headed home a corner. His header shot thinly over the goal.

Penalty! Arsenal got a penalty in the 50th minute, after Lacazette was tackled by Matt Target from behind. The referee didn’t see it as a foul at first, but then reviewed the incident via the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) screen and changed his decision.

Aubameyang stepped up as the executor and his shot to the left of the goal was read by Martinez. But the ball rebounded successfully struck into the goal. The first half is over.

Villa kicked off early in the second half. Targett’s through ball cleared Ollie Watkins down the left. Ings was open on the right, but Watkins chose to finish the attack himself and his shot was cleared by Aaron Ramsdale.

Another attack from the visitors in the 51st minute. Emiliano Buendia darted down the left and pulled home Danny Ings. Ings held the ball for a moment then fired a shot that was blocked by Ben White.

GOAL! Arsenal scored the third goal in the 56th minute. Through a quick attack, Aubameyang sent a through ball to Smith Rowe on the left.

He dribbled closer to the penalty box and directed the kick into the goal. The ball hit Tyrone Mings and ended up in the left corner of the goal, outwitting Emiliano Martinez.

Arsenal almost conceded in the 62nd minute. Targett’s measured pass was received by Buendia who ended his stab with a low kick. Ramsdale swiftly secured his goal with his feet.

An error from Albert Sambi Lokonga was almost exploited by Villa in the 71st minute. The ball was controlled by Leon Bailey, who then directed a curling shot into the goal. But his attempt was still too easy for Ramsdale.

Arsenal responded shortly after. Aubameyang burst into the middle from the left and directed the shot into the right corner of the goal. Martinez ‘fly’ to ward off the ball.

GOAL! Villa thinned the difference in the 82nd minute. Bailey stabbed in from the right but then struggled to control the ball. Jacob Ramsey who was in front of him grabbed the ball instantly and ended up in the right corner of the goal.

Inadvertence almost made Arsenal conceded a second time in the 83rd minute. Matty Cash’s throw-in failed to be anticipated by the Arsenal defense and was tipped over by Watkins. Luckily for Arsenal, his shot was wide.

Villa got a chance from a free kick in front of the penalty box in the 93rd minute. Bailey’s execution was only thin over the Arsenal crossbar. The game ended soon after.
