In an Extraordinary General Assembly, the Olympic Committee of El Salvador elected a new board of directors. At the meeting, José Armando Bruni, from the Salvadoran Badminton Federation, was elected as the new president of the COES.
The list that he headed beat in a show of hands vote by 36 to 9 the one chaired by Fabrizzio Hernández, from the Bodybuilding Federation. The election had as an observer General Juan Santiago Estrada, sent by the International Olympic Committee. The new board of directors is integrated, in addition to Bruni as president, by Roberto Calderón (general secretary, basketball), Gloria Ramos (treasurer, athletics) , Sandra de Uceda (1st vice president, Special Olympics), Claudia de Hernández (2nd vice president, gymnastics), Jorge Cabrera (3rd vice president, baseball) and Salvador Salguero (4th vice president, Olympic athlete).
Bruni received congratulations from Eduardo Palomo, president of the Olympic Committee: “Armando, my congratulations. We will work together on the transition. In addition, Palomo added: “It seems good to me that someone from the elected committee attends the Pan American Games in Cali and I will give you my place, so that you attend as president-elect.”
After the election, Bruni took the floor and thanked all the federations that voted for his roster: “Thank you for choosing me to take command of this great boat and thanks to my team for believing in this project.” Then he expanded: “There will be spaces for all sports actors, we will promote the Olympic Academy and the sports press. The Olympic Committee is open to everyone. ”“ This roster that I am heading is quite comprehensive, good, with representation from different national sports players. We know that it is quite a big challenge, but we are convinced that we will be able to carry it out. Several projects are coming, I believe that the Olympic Committee is in good hands ”, he added.
The new board of directors will take office on November 19, although from next week work will be done on the transition.
