For now it is actually difficult to guess the opponent of Indonesia. One thing is for sure, Indonesia has three potential opponents who will come from the runners-up in Groups B, C, and D.

For Groups B, C, and D have not played their last match as Indonesia has done. So, it is difficult to see which teams will potentially be the opponents of Kevin Sanjaya and his friends.

However, if you look at the current standings of Groups B, C, and D, we can actually see who the three opponents of Indonesia are in the quarter-finals of the 2020 Thomas Cup.

The following are 3 potential opponents for the Indonesian badminton team in the 2020 Thomas Cup quarter-finals:

3. Denmark (Group B)

Viktor Axelsen

Denmark is currently perched in second place because it lost competitiveness with South Korea (South Korea). Interestingly, in the final match later, Denmark will compete with South Korea for the first place.

So far, South Korea can appear consistent by winning 4-1 against Germany and France. While Denmark may have won 5-0 against France, they struggled to face Germany because the score ended 3-2.

South Korea’s strength now looks much stronger, so there is a possibility that Denmark will lose in the last party. That way, Denmark will be in the runner-up position in Group B.

2. India (Group C)

Sai Praneeth

India’s fate is the same as Denmark’s. Actually, India has the potential to finish as the winner of Group C if it wins in the final match because it has won the previous two matches.

The problem is, India’s last opponent is China, which has also won two victories. It is undeniable that China is a candidate to win the 2020 Thomas Cup and because of that, beating the team is very difficult.

If in the end they lose, India will qualify as runner-up in Group C and potentially against Indonesia.

1. Malaysia (Group D)

Lee Zee Jia

Group D is the most unique because there are only three teams competing, namely Japan, Malaysia and Canada. All that happened because the British who decided to resign.

Because Canada has lost twice, then Japan and Malaysia have the potential to both finish as winners of Group D. Whoever wins in the last match between Japan vs Malaysia, then that team will win Group D.

While the loser will finish as runner-up and potentially against Indonesia. If you look at the status of Japan, which is a strong candidate, it seems that Malaysia will be Indonesia’s opponent in the quarterfinals.
