The Animal Rescue Team immediately transferred the gannet to the Rescue Center for Birds and Wild Animals in Ostend. “The animal was weakened and dehydrated,” says Mathieu Helleputte. “It is still a young and inexperienced bird. It probably followed an airstream and then lost its way.”
When the bird has recovered, it will be released. “I’m glad I called,” concludes Geert Swartenbroekx.
