Vierklau puts ‘Player of the Week’ in the spotlight: ‘Just stop him’

Ferdi Vierklau thinks Jens Toornstra is the Player of the Week in the Eredivisie. The former right back is impressed by Toornstra after his strong performance against PSV.

Vierklau has put together the Team of the Week of the past Eredivisie weekend for De Telegraaf. Toornstra gets a place in midfield in that team. ‘Jens Toornstra is really the Player of the Week for me’, writes Vierklau. ‘During his time at FC Utrecht, you could already see that when he has a little space, he feels comfortable in his own skin. Then stop him.’

“If he doesn’t play, you only notice what you have lost in running capacity in your midfield,” Vierklau continues. ‘He also finished his two goals, where you can see that he is always on the go. And that in a top game.’

Toornstra scored two goals against PSV, after which Feyenoord won 0-4 in the Philips Stadium. The 32-year-old midfielder also earned a spot in VP’s Team of the Week.
