– A curious “Dead Fish” celebration in New York
After his victory over Novak Djokovic, Daniil Medvedev fell strangely on the ground. The action didn’t just happen by accident.

Daniil Medvedev has always been a little different. At Wimbledon 2017 he dug out his wallet after a lost game and threw coins under the umpiretfirst chair to suggest that the referee has been bought. For that he had to deliver a few more coins: $ 7,500 fine. And when his star rose at the US Open two years ago, he took on the New York audience on the way to the final against Rafael Nadal. A sacrilege.
The audience booed him after he angrily tore the terry towel out of the hand of a ball child. The Russian didn’t let that sit on him and showed the crowd the middle finger. Later he thanked the audience sarcastically: “The energy you have given me is enough for my next five matches.” Which then, curiously, also turned out to be true. Medvedev later apologized and went from arrogant villain to joker in those two weeks.
