Bencic advances, as does Raducanu
Tokyo Olympics gold medalist Belinda Bencic advanced to the fourth round at the US Open after posting straight sets wins on Saturday.
11th seed Bencic ousted American Jessica Pegula 6-2, 6-4 in a resumption of their recent Olympic tournament game.
The Swiss slipped into the 2019 US Open four, her best Grand Slam result so far.
Emma Raducanu also made progress in the tournament with a convincing 6-0, 6-1 win over Sara Sorribes Tormo.
Raducanu, who was born in Canada and represents Great Britain, will compete in week two of a major tournament for a second time this year, having achieved the feat at Wimbledon.
