To be held the National Archery Championship

Archery continues its activity and will be celebrating its National Championship this weekend at its headquarters in the Albergue Olímpico in Salinas.

The action will begin on Friday, September 10 with the official practices and inspection of the equipment that will be between 2:00 PM and 6:00 PM.

The competition will begin on Saturday, September 11 with the qualifying round of 72 arrows, in the morning and in the afternoon, the mixed teams will enter the scene in the recurve and compound modalities. While the final phases will be held on Sunday.

“In the federation we are very happy and encouraged with the celebration of the Championship, due to the crisis of the pandemic it could not be held last year, now we will be able to define if the winners in 2019 repeat or we will have new champions. The enthusiasm is great among the clubs ”, indicated the president of the federation, Jean Pizarro.

At the moment the federation has six active clubs that will be participating in the Championship, the archers via their respective clubs must make the registration payment ($ 20) for today, Wednesday, September 8, as well as confirm who will be staying in the facilities of the Olympic Lodge.

CALI 2021 REPRESENTATIVES TO BE ANNOUNCED

Pizarro announced that after this weekend the announcement will be made of the athletes according to the classification that will be representing Puerto Rico in Archery at the Youth Pan American Games to be held in Cali, Colombia between November 25 as of December 5, 2021.

Puerto Rico is classified with four vacancies for the fair debutant in Cali, mixed recurve, male and female, as well as male compound.

“In addition, the competition will continue as selective for the Puerto Rico Archery Open,” said the federative leader.

The Puerto Rico Archery Open will take place in March and will be the first qualifying event for the Central American and Caribbean Games, El Salvador 2023.

The event will have the protocol against Covid-19, in addition there will be availability of hydration for the participants in the face of the strong heat wave that affects the Island.

The National Championship will be dedicated in memory of the deceased goalkeeper, Ariel Cruz Sotelo, who was part of the national team and contributed to this sport after arriving from his native Cuba.

In the event they will participate in the recurve and compound modalities in masculine, feminine and mixed.
