The first day of the Iberdrola Club Cup 2021 lived up to expectations, with more than 50 games. The competition began with a group stage that was charged with emotion, as several matches were decided by minimal differences. On this first day of competition, the group stage and the quarterfinals that defined the semi-finalists of the competition were played: CB Oviedo, CB Rinconada, CB The Snows and CB Granollers.

At Group 1 the CB Oviedo, current champion of the competition, did not have it easy in his group against CB Athlos and Soria CS24 but finally he took the first place of the group. Of course, he had to sweat to beat the Galician team (3-2) and later he unceremoniously defeated the Soria team (5-0). Athlos also had a solid victory against the Leonese, finishing second and advancing to the quarter-finals.
The same script was seen in the Group 2, where he CB Rinconada beat 3-2 to CB Alicante and won 5-0 to CB Huesca to go ahead as first of the group. On the other hand, the Alicante women managed to be second by beating the Aragonese (5-0) .ç
The Granollers was the great protagonist of Group number 3, because he got two hard wins against Estella (5-0) and Paracuellos (4-1). However, we had to wait until the last minute to find out which team would qualify for the quarterfinals, as Madrid and Navarre staged an all-out fight that ended up falling on the side of Paracuellos (3-2).
Group 4 was dominated by the Galicians from the snows, who won 5-0 at CB Benalmádena and 4-1 to CB San Fernando Valencia (4-1). In the duel for second place, the Andalusians beat the Valencians 3-2.
Excitement was assured in the quarter-final crossovers, in which tremendously vibrant pairings were seen: Oviedo – Alicante; As Neves – Paracuellos; Granollers – Athlos; and Rinconada – Benalmádena.
