Unai Bustinza, former Athletic club and Leganés captain, acknowledges the tension suffered by the club by not having won yet

Asier Garitano has him as one of his trusted men. Since his final departure from Lezama in 2016, Unai Bustinza (Bilbao, 29 years old) has found in Leganés (today’s rival of Amorebieta, in Butarque, 6.15 pm) the ideal place to grow up and feel like a footballer. After a course weighed down by injuries, he has renewed for two seasons. The Madrid team stars in a bad league start: they are bottom and the only team that still does not know the victory after five days.

– Have you already forgotten the physical problems that made you miss the end of the previous season?

– That was a chore for me. At the most important moment of the season I had a fat injury. In summer I had to be preparing to start the preseason well, to balance my body and recover sensations. At this moment I feel very well. Although when the situation is not the best, it is not easy to find those good feelings.

– He has just renewed until 2023 with Leganés.

– Professionally I grew up here. In Lezama it was my debut and where I was created as a footballer. But professionally the greatest experiences I have lived here.

– They are experiencing a very negative start to the season.

– It’s true. We still don’t know what victory is. And we have had two games in a row at home with opponents who have just risen, but … It is assumed that they should be affordable, but it does not end up being that way. The situation we have raises doubts.

– The ‘rookie’ teams are hitting hard.

– It would be good if we stopped giving labels of ‘favorites’ because in the end those teams know what they play.

– Leganés is one of the roosters of the competition, they must fight for high places.

– To be fighting above… right now we all have the same objective. Nobody is fighting for anything other than to win every game. Then it is clear that the history, the trajectory … demands more of you. It is a matter of knowing the difficulty of each game and that not by having a name you can aspire to more. You have the obligation to do well in each game because in this category, nothing is wrong, it is difficult to get the games.

“Give a step forward”

– The Amorebieta is not going to make it easy for them to reverse that delicate situation they are going through.

– It would be falling into a mistake again if we consider that, for the rival that is coming, the scenario is propitious. We have to take a step forward due to the situation that has been generated for us, beyond the fact that we have Amorebieta in front of us.

– Playing in Butarque can be a double-edged sword if they stumble again.

– Yes, of course, but that’s part of the business. The fans are aware of the importance of the game, they will come to give us everything they can. And then, depending on how it goes and our response, which I hope is good, is sovereign to give your opinion and express yourself as you consider.

– How have you seen Amorebieta in these five days?

– I keep the analysis, we are not here to give away much. It is a very compact block. Having people from the house generates that bond, and they have been doing things well for a long time. It is a history of Third and Second B that is based on doing very simple things with a very great intensity and with enormous strength. It is a very difficult team to win.

– What kind of match do you expect?

– We’re going to have to work on it a lot. They are going to offer us very little chance of being able to attack because of their mistakes. We will be the ones who will have to force them to have those errors, or generate superiorities so that they are not able to be comfortable.
