The Costa Teguise Judo Club makes its debut in the highest national division

The Lanzarote team achieved victory in two of the three matches

The Costa Teguise Judo Club began its career in the National Judo League last weekend, returning to the military in the First Division. The Lanzarote club had a very good performance on the first day held in Madrid, adding the victory in two of the three matches played and placing itself in the middle of the table with four valuable points to its credit.

On the first day, the Costa Teguise Judo Club won against the Catalan Girona Judo (3-2) and Judokan Valencia (4-1), and their first defeat came against JC Stabia de Extremadura (2-3) . Some results that allow the Lanzarote club to place itself in the middle zone of the ranking of the national judo elite, getting four points on the first day of competition.

The team’s coach, Alejandro Ramírez, considered that “it has been a tough day” and explained that “we are in the highest national division, all the teams are strong because they have made very tough signings”. This season, the Costa Teguise Judo Club has a completely new team, made up for the most part by judokas who have received scholarships from the High Performance Center in Madrid.

The second day of the National Judo League will take place on October 16 in Villaviciosa de Odón, in Madrid, facing JC Sotillo, JC Alicante and Valencia Judo Club. Alejandro Ramírez comments that they will face “two of the teams that are leaders, but also the last classified”.

The Costa Teguise Judo Club showed on this first day of the National League a solidarity t-shirt with the slogan “Fuerza La Palma”, showing the judokas all their support for the people of La Palma after the damage caused by the active volcanic eruption .
