the 34 sailors set off for the 3rd “trap” stage

The start of the 3e round was given this Sunday at 12 noon off Fécamp and the 34 Solitaires set sail for England.

The cannon for the 3rd stage of the Solitaire du Figaro has just been given at 12 noon in front of the cliffs between Yport and Fécamp. Plunging the 34 sailors into a 624-mile round which could be one of surprises, as the weather conditions are expected to be uncertain. After four days of stopover on the Alabaster coast, the skippers left with recharged batteries to face the light winds which will punctuate their progress towards the bay of Morlaix and the port of Roscoff. And this via South Pullar which is a brand in the east of the Isle of Wight, the English south coast to Land’s End, a buoy in Wales, the Isles of Scilly and the Isle of Batz. Vigilance and lucidity will be required to seek out breaths of air and avoid contrary currents. The various routings announce an arrival between Thursday and Friday, with a lot of uncertainties.

After twenty minutes of racing, the rookie Arthur Hubert (monatoutenergie.fr) turned the first buoy in the lead just ahead of Pierre Quiroga (Skipper Macif 2019), the leader at the halfway point and Eric Peron (French Touch). The 34 sailors then set out to cross the Channel to England.
