Tennis – WTA ranking: Osaka leaves the Top 5, Mladenovic and Cornet gain places

The two former world No. 1 Naomi Osaka and Simona Halep continue to fall in the WTA rankings on Monday as Kristina Mladenovic and Alizé Cornet have each gained three places. Fifth last week, the Japanese, who has been suffering from psychological problems for several months and decided to take a break, lost three more places on Monday to find herself in 8th position. For her part, Simona Halep is now 14th (-3) in a Top 20 still dominated by Ashleigh Barty.

The Portoroz and Luxembourg tournaments, which took place last week, enabled their winners, Jasmine Paolini and Clara Tauson to perform well in the standings. The Italian climbed 23 ranks and placed 64th in the world, while the Dane is now 52nd with 18 more places. For their part, Kristina Mladenovic (65th) and Alizée Cornet (69th), who reached the quarter-finals respectively in Portoroz and Luxembourg, go up three places.
