Stefano Travisani eliminated in the 16mi of the men’s open individual recurvo – OA Sport

They continued into the Italian night at Tokyo Paralympics archery competitions for the men of the open class, as regards the curved. The open class contains both standing and wheelchair-bound athletes: archers position themselves at a 90 degree angle to the target and can use body support.

Last Friday’s ranking round served to outline the individual competition scoreboard, where they pull of sets of three arrows: for each set two points are awarded to whoever scores the highest score (one each in the event of a tie) and whoever arrives first at 6 passes the round. In the event of a 5-5, only one shoot-off arrow is shot.

In men’s open individual recurve only one blue was competing, Stefano Travisani, class W2, who had finished the ranking round in 12th place, and for this reason in the round of 32 that took place last night the Italian challenged theHarvinder Singh, number 21.

The Indian started much better, bringing himself quickly on 0-4 thanks to the successes for 27-24 and 26-22 in the first series. Travisani shortened to 2-4 winning the third set 27-26, then the draw at 25 in the fourth ha prolonged challenge (score of 3-5).

The blue managed to impact on 5-5 winning the fifth set for 27-25 and so we went to shoot-off: at 7 of the blue the Indian replied with a 10 and thus won 6-5, qualifying for the round of 16. For Travisani there will be tomorrow try in mixed pairs with Elisabetta Mijno: Italy in the second round will be opposed to Mongolia.
