Genoa – Saturday 11th September, the multi-sports facility of Sciorba of Genoa hosts the first edition of SportAbility Day, a day of sport, friendship and inclusion promoted by the Stelle nel Sport Association and dedicated to children with motor, sensory and relational intellectual disabilities. The event falls within the SportAbility project, promoted with the support of the departments for social policies and sport of the Liguria Region, the collaboration of the Regional Council for the handicap, the patronage of the Italian Paralympic Committee and Special Olympics in Liguria. Among the sponsoring bodies of the Stelle nella Sport project is the Municipality of Genoa and, in this specific event, the collaboration of the Media Valbisagno Municipality, as well as MySport, the company that manages the Sciorba plants, and Bic Genova was precious.
The program of the SportAbility Day 2021 foresees the start of the activities starting from 10 with public entrance from the south side (before the Stadio della Sciorba, with reserved parking). Access for everyone (children and families) is subject to possession of the green pass. At ore 11 and the parade of all participants to inaugurate the event with the awarding of the Ligurian protagonists at the Tokyo Paralympics: the two-time champion (100 and 200 freestyle) Francesco Bocciardo (Genoese Swimmers / Gold Flames), Matteo Orsi (Table tennis Savona), Gian Filippo Mirabile (Sportiva Murcarolo).
Activities and events they develop all day until 6pm. Climbing, Athletics, Underwater Activities, Badminton, Basketball, Wheelchair basketball, Baskin, Soccer, Cheerleading, Dance, Golf, Judo, Swimming, Water polo, Volleyball, Pet Therapy, Powerchair hockey, Fencing, Equestrian Sports, Taekwondo, Tennis, Archery, Sailing: 23 disciplines are available of disabled girls and boys who are followed by qualified instructors from numerous corporate and federal realities (it is mandatory to present a valid medical certificate).

Throughout the day theassistance is guaranteed by three doctors thanks to the collaboration of Synlab which has its own laboratory at La Sciorba. There will also be the ambulance of the Croce Verde San Gottardo with its soldiers as well as the assistance point of Misericordia Genova Centro. Amiu is an environmental partner of the event for the promotion of separate waste collection during sporting events with the LIFE TACKLE European project. In fact, in the spaces of the event there will be containers for the separate collection of paper, plastic and metals and gadgets offered by the supply chain consortia (COREPLA and CIAL) will also be distributed to the participants. Sanitation throughout the area will be guaranteed thanks to the products supplied by Welcare Industries. All participants will be offered a snack thanks to Panarello.

From 4 pm there will be a great swimming relay, coordinated by My Sport Special Olympics, open to all those who want to “dive into the water”.
