Version of the intervention of Senator Xóchitl Gálvez Ruiz, when participating in the discussion of an opinion of the United Youth and Sports Commissions, and Second Legislative Studies, by which various provisions of the General Law of Physical Culture are amended and added and Sport

Thank you very much, President.

It is incredible that in the XXI century we are talking about non-discrimination to indigenous peoples and Afro-Mexican communities.

And surely we all heard the success of the Triqui boys in America in basketball, and many were moved by the fact that they played basketball barefoot.

We all know about the ultramarathons run by the Tarahumara or Rrámuris, as they call themselves, of more than 100, 200 kilometers, and with pinole and flip-flops with which they usually run these marathons.

I celebrate this modification to the law to make something come true that we would not have to modify the law, but it does happen in real life, it is not treated as equal to those who are unequal, then, a series of public policies of affirmative actions is required to fully include indigenous and Afro-Mexican peoples, communities.

Of course I congratulate Lucy.

Especially Nestora, I know of your struggle on this issue, you are a regular visitor to the mountain of Guerrero.

And surely they will wonder why the main sport that indigenous communities play is basketball and it is precisely because they live in the mountains, in the mountains and sometimes the only thing that fits is school and a basketball court, obviously it would be impossible to think of fields football by orographic conditions.

So, what I would like is obviously a very noble law, to promote, promote, encourage sport in indigenous and Afro-Mexican communities, but we need to get to the facts.

This week the budget discussion begins and what is real is that the National Commission of Indigenous People has had a 40% reduction in the budget to promote all kinds of public policies.

While it is true that the National Institute of Indigenous Peoples is the responsibility of the entire government now, sorry that it is the new name, as it has lost this budget.

I hope that we really go from saying to fact, because if not all these laws will be a dead letter if the economic resources are not put into place to make what we have said here a reality.

Thank you.

And of course we are going to vote in favor of this law.
