Sekou Doumbouya’s rival in Brooklyn

After a two-year stint in Detroit, Sekou Doumbouya arrives in Brooklyn with the ambition to progress alongside Kevin Durant and to discover the rigor of a franchise that plays the title. Unfortunately, to spend the season with the Nets, the young French will have to make a better impression than his rival.

While he had to register in the duration in Detroit, and carry high the French colors with Killian Hayes at the Pistons, Sekou Doumbouya was exchanged to the general surprise… After only two seasons spent in Michigan, its leaders estimated that it was time to turn the page, which is rather surprising given the promises shown and its potential.

I have to say that the crazy rumor that turns about the young winger in the league Perhaps played in this decision… Anyway, Sekou Doumbouya is not necessarily to be pitied since he arrives in Brooklyn, in a very structured team in which he could strongly progress. He already has a good relationship with Kevin Durant, which is pretty good news for him.

However, despite his proximity to KD, the place of the former Limoges in the final workforce of the Nets is not guaranteed … In fact, as explained by Michael Scotto and Yossi Gozlan of HoopsHype in their latest podcast, the young Frenchman is expected to compete with another player for the last spot in Steve Nash’s poster. A much more experienced competitor.

Scotto : The Nets are a little overloaded, they will have to cut players. Jahlil Okafor, for me, has very little chance of staying in Brooklyn for the season (he was cut a few hours later, editor’s note). Then they will have to make a decision between Sekou Doumbouya and DeAndre ‘Bembry. If they choose the latter, he will be the 5th player represented by the CAA agency in the workforce …

Gozlan : I’m surprised the Pistons abandoned the Sekou Doumbouya project so quickly, and if the Nets don’t keep it either, maybe the concern is with the player. But from the outside, I prefer to keep Sekou in this context. He still has a lot of potential.

Sekou Doumbouya will obviously have to make a better impression than DeAndre ‘Bembry if he wants to live a full season with the Nets! It would be an opportunity for him to progress by observing some of the best players on the planet, which would be more than beneficial to him. Bembry in his career is 6.1 points and 3.3 rebounds on average, which means that there is plenty of room for the French.

Sekou Doumbouya will have to face DeAndre ‘Bembry therefore, but also his agency CAA … The Nets like to work with the company, which could play in the final decision.
