What became apparent years ago has also proven itself this year: The double program of pistol shooters was carried out separately from the 300m shooters in terms of time and location. On Friday evening, the Löhningen pistol club welcomed the Schaffhausen shooting veterans in the secluded forest stand on Randenfusse. 16 shooters took up action at 25 m, 11 of them at 50 m. The shooting program was at 25 m after a test series of 4 x 5 shots in 40 seconds per series. After test shots there were 10 + 8 individual shots at 50 m. The veterans’ board members and local helpers did the warning and paperwork, while the cozy rifle room was looked after by another team. The weather was very good, the forest provided shade and coolness. The results achieved ranged from good to lousy, but that didn’t affect the mood later in the shooting club.

On Saturday morning the 300 m shooters met a highly motivated troop in Beringen, the stand with the entrance decoration: banderole, flag gate and tables set under the walnut trees with carefully crafted weight scales (for non-Swiss: crows), the material tent, the reserve masks and the disinfectant were ready as well as the coffee machine, the cakes and bacon pancakes. After lunch, the mayor of Beringen, Roger Paillard, addressed the shooting community with a brief and pleasant brief. First of all, he was thanked for the coffee and the fine cream roll. Actually, he doesn’t have that much to do with shooting, although there are three shooting ranges in the community. He also does not know what the term sending means for the shooters. He knows the concept of sending mail or e-mails, but now he can learn something from the terminology of shooting. Thanks to the delivery of complete data sets from the rifle master and the treasurer and the careful preparation of Martin Meier, president of the local club, MM did the printing of stand sheets, wreath cards and ranking lists as quickly as possible. This once allowed the veterans board of directors to have a casual morning with a nice slider. Thanks to all the helpers of the two clubs for the extremely successful event.(Ueli Looser, Schleitheim)
