Santiago Gonzáles could only reach the round of 16 with Argentine Andrés Molteni

The pair of tennis players made up of the Mexican Santiago González and Argentine Andrés Molteni lost in the round of 16 of the US Open in men’s doubles to German Kevin Krawietz and Romanian Horia Tecau, thus culminating their participation in the last Grand Slam of the year.

In straight sets and with partials of 6-2 and 7-6, the Latin couple could not hold their advantage in the second set and allowed themselves to be broken a couple of times to say goodbye to Flushing Meadows and the last big courts.

On Saturday night, González and Moltani beat South African Raven Klaasen and Japanese Ben Mclachlan 6-1, 3-6 and 7-6 in the previous round.

On the other hand, in mixed doubles, the Mexican Giuliana Olmos and the Salvadoran Marcelo Arévalo faced the pair of the American Nicole Melichar-Martínez and the Croatian Iván Dodig, whom they beat 7-5, 3-6 and 10-5 in round of 16. Now, said pair expects rival in the quarterfinals.
