Rui Pinto created Football Leaks (FL) to reveal the shady business of football to the world. And decided to launch that online platform after Benfica commentators have disclosed, in a television program, proposals and confidential agreements between clubs and football players, explains the challenge that his defense delivered to the Central Criminal Court of Lisbon. The pirate guarantees that he didn’t work alone, but assumes all responsibility. He is charged with 90 crimes. The trial starts on September 4th.
FL was born on September 29, 2015. Like Wikileaks, “it intended, with transparency and truth, to disclose original and complete documentation, without omissions or truncations”, recalls the answer, signed by Francisco Teixeira da Mota and Luísa Teixeira da Mota , lawyers for Rui Pinto. The idea of the blog was to allow football lovers to understand how the shady business of football worked.
