Points and experience for the rossoblù athletes in Morat

The Morat tournament was held on Saturday, the fourth and last chance to win the ranking points necessary to participate in the 2021 Swiss Individual Championships at the end of November in a “special” year that saw more than half of the scheduled matches be canceled. Numerous athletes have therefore decided to participate in this tournament perfectly organized by the local Judo Club, including 23 from Ticino.

The men’s U18s with the most numerous categories are on the scene first. Among the rossoblùs in particular evidence in the cat. -81 kg Loris Perosa (Jbc Bellinzona, second) and Niccolò Monte Rizzi (Dyk Chiasso, third), both returning to the races after several months of absence. Good fifth place for Kai Bürgisser (also Chiasso). The other seven from Ticino in the race, while giving their best and winning some fights, paid for their inexperience and did not get close to the podium.

The six U18 girls also showed a good attitude and determination but this was not enough to get on the podium. The lack of competition was noticeable. Best placement for Aurora Civatti (Bc Vedeggio), fifth in the -48 kg.

Among the U21s, the excellent second place won by Mirto Regazzoni (-81 kg) and Christian Massimi Edouard (-90 kg) should be noted. Fifth rank among the girls for Samuela Ceschina (-57 kg) and Giulia Cambianica from Bellinzona. The latter won the very small category of the elite -70 kg.

A positive trip for Ticino judo that allowed several young athletes to secure their qualification for the Swiss Championships and all of them to compete with valid opponents. The match has certainly given the coaches important information on how to prepare for the two months that separate us from the queen match of the season, scheduled for 27 and 28 November in Bienne.
