Chez Reavie is the leader of the Fortinet Championship after the first round completed Thursday, at the Silverado Resort and Spa.

He returned a card of 65, just one stroke better than Cameron Tringale and Canadian Adam Hadwin.

Six other golfers follow two strokes behind, with Masters Tournament winner Hideki Matsuyama at 69. Phil Mickelson at 70.

John Rahm is motivated, even if he is not in great shape. The Spaniard rigged two birdies and two bogueys to sign a par of 72.

Rahm had tested positive for COVID-19 in June and is not yet 100%. He just had to withdraw from the Memorial when he was in the lead after three rounds.

“I had a hard time concentrating as I haven’t had a real good meal since Tuesday morning,” he said today.
