The battle of the sports associations that are part of the “Il Palazzetto” committee continues in Paternò
(Paternò Volley, Basket club Paternò, Volley club Academy, Paternò badminton, Siciliamo, Le Racchette, New Victory and Città Viva) to ask for the use of school gyms for training.
The facilities were banned by the executives. A week ago a meeting was held open to managers, sports federations, associations and municipal administration.
The undersecretary for public education Barbara Floridia had also participated in the meeting and had made a specific commitment; one of his circular that should have clarified the use of school gyms in the period in which the Regions are in the yellow zone. The problem would be linked, in fact, to the interpretation of the current legislation on the coloring of the Region. Nothing has changed since then. Hence the decision of the Il Palazzetto Committee to launch a sort of ultimatum through a letter addressed to all the bodies and bodies in charge: if concrete interventions are not adopted within 10 days, they say they are ready for sensational events.
“We cannot wait long times, such as months or years, linked to the institutional bureaucracy, we have decided by mutual agreement that this” game “must have a timing and be completed within 10 days of the formal sending, both to our Municipality of Paternò and to all the recipients of this letter – reads the letter – We have put more of our face, our mayor does not want it and he, who was a sportsman, knows very well what it means to decide not to carry out a sporting activity anymore for years, to no longer see hundreds of smiles of children and young people or their discovery or their immense joy in shooting, dribbling, beating, following the rhythm of a music, accompanying their frustration when lost or you are wrong, we believe that all this must not cease and it cannot be a color (White, Yellow Orange) that makes it vanish.
We also want the support of the mayor of the Metropolitan City of Catania, who was absent that day, so that he can become a spokesperson and also put his “face” and intercede for the use of the school gyms of the Secondary Schools of our Municipality of Paternò, implementing the existing regulation with all relevant protocols. We want the Undersecretary for Public Education, as he stated, to conclude the process for the implementation of this Circular “Unlock School Gyms” in a short time so that our Region of Sicily can have the same opportunities as the rest of Italy for do sports regardless of color.
We urge the entire local and regional school community to open school gyms and implement a Community Pact with the Sports Associations in this difficult time. We urge all local citizens and the active forces of our territory to support us and stimulate this process of territorial growth; We want the regional policy of competence, such as: Public Education, Sport, Anci Sicilia, Sports Federations and Sports Promotion Bodies, the Palazzetto Committee, to build a guiding model, a regulation of governance of Sport joint to the world of the School and the use of School gyms, fair for all, and not connected to the political moment or to the temporary sensitivity of a school manager “.
