Palasport to be renewed but the construction site is stopped

The sports hall will soon be renovated. Appropriate 200 thousand euros for improvement and maintenance interventions including 41 thousand of regional funding for the remediation of the over one thousand square meters of asbestos-cement roof. In the building in via Rossini, dedicated to the memory of the former basketball player Stefano Campanini, the fixtures of the area relating to the services and changing rooms and the area for sports activities have already been completely renovated. Complete renewal of the changing rooms, the renovation of the air heating system and the control unit that governs the lights in the sports area are expected.

The works are currently at a standstill: the company that took over the contract for the works is awaiting delivery of the new tiles that will replace the asbestos-cement slabs that make up the roof. Once the roof of the building has been uncovered and the new tiles have been laid before the bad weather in autumn, the playing parquet will also be rebuilt. The proximity of the Campanini building to the school complex of the primary school means that the structure will also be made available to the adjoining school.

Hence the need to complete the renovation of the sports facility as soon as possible. After all, the structure in via Rossini has long hosted the most varied competitive activities such as volleyball, five-a-side football and indoor baseball and, according to the good fired, it will soon also host basketball, an activity once in vogue and Sannazzaro. The sports hall was the last public building with an asbestos roof: the others have already been reclaimed over the years.
