OJ Mayo will play at UNICS Kazan

OJ Mayo, who was number 3 in the 2008 Draft and who has not played an official game in the NBA since 2016, has sealed an agreement to wear the UNICS Kazan jersey directed by Velimir Perasovic, the media reported Eurohoops.

The 33-year-old guard was sanctioned for a 2-year period of inactivity in the NBA for violating the anti-drug program. Since then he has gone through the leagues of Puerto Rico, Taiwan and China after not receiving any calls from the league.

Mayo returns to elite basketball where he will try to take the Russian team to the top, which has other outstanding players among its ranks, such as Mario Hezonja, Isaiah Canaan or Lorenzo Brown.

Between 2008 and 2012 he was in the Memphis Grizzlies to later play in the Dallas Mavericks (2012-13) and the Milwaukee Bucks (2013-16). His NBA career averages have been 13.8 points, 3.1 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 1 steal in 547 official games.
