Zach Wilson got to know the New England Patriots and it was tough.

The New York Jets quarterback suffered four interceptions in a 25-6 loss on Sunday.

The second-ranked Jets draft pick made all four of his turnovers in just his first 10 assists of the game. At the same time, he exceeded his total of interceptions launched during the 2020 campaign with BYU.

Wilson became the first Jets player in nearly 40 years to be the victim of two interceptions on his first two attempted passes of the game. He threw three interceptions in the first half, the highest since Geno Smith had the same disappointing result in 2014.

Wilson ended his day with 19 completed passes in 33 attempts for gains of 210 yards. For his part, Mac Jones managed his game well with 22 completed passes in 30 attempts for gains of 186 yards. Damien Harris and James White posted touchdowns for the Patriots in the win.

Burrow as generous, Fields as reinforcement

The damage was done for Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals who suffered a 20-17 loss to the Chicago Bears.

The Bengals quarterback suffered three interceptions in the game against two touchdowns. He completed just 19 of his 30 passes for 207 yards. Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins scored touchdowns in the fourth quarter for the Bengals, but they ran out of time.

Roquan Smith returned an interception from Burrow for a touchdown.

The Chicago Bears had to look to Justin Fields in this game after Andy Dalton suffered an injury. He was substituted after he threw a touchdown pass to Allen Robinson.

Fields concluded his workday with an interception and six passes completed on 13 occasions for 60 yards.

Winston and the Saints Brought Back to Earth

Sam Darnold threw two touchdown passes and for 305 yards, helping the Carolina Panthers win 26-7 over the New Orleans Saints.

Darnold increased his record to 2-0 as a Panthers starter, joining Brandon Zylstra and DJ Moore in the end zone to give the Carolina squad a 17-0 lead in the first half.

Christian McCaffrey added 137 yards from the line of scrimmage and he got his first major of the season for the Panthers, who defeated the Saints for only the second time in 10 attempts.

Jameis Winston, who threw five touchdown passes in a convincing 38-3 win over the Green Bay Packers, was limited to 111 yards from the air and suffered two interceptions.

Running back Alvin Kamara amassed just five yards on eight carries and the Saints struggled as eight of their coaches were missing due to COVID-19 protocols.

The Panthers outscored the Saints 383-128 in yards and had 28 first downs against just six for their opponents.

For a second consecutive week, the Panthers defense set the tone by shutting out the opposing team in the first half.

The Panthers used several side-shift plays to get Darnold free. On the first touchdown, the fourth-year quarterback ran with the ball before spotting Zylstra for a 20-yard major.

Darnold was efficient, but not perfect.

With the Panthers in control, late in the third quarter, Darnold almost allowed the Saints to come back into the game. He attempted a take-off pass that defensive end Malcolm Roach intercepted and brought back to the Panthers’ 18-line.

Winston closed the lead to 17-7 just five games later, thanks to an eight-yard pay run.

The Panthers regained their composure, however, and distanced themselves when McCaffrey returned to the game after missing two playoffs on offense. The running back registered a touchdown from 11 yards.

The Philly Special is less successful

The San Francisco 49ers’ methodical play was enough to beat the Philadelphia Eagles 17-11.

The creativity of the Eagles did not serve them in this meeting. As the team found themselves on the doorstep in the second quarter, the offense attempted the Super Bowl famous game, the “Philly Special,” but the pass to Jalen Hurts never found its way. target to materialize the turnaround on a fourth try.

Jimmy Garoppolo threw a touchdown pass in addition to registering himself the middle finger which made the difference in the fourth quarter on a sneak of the quarter. Hurts did the same moments later, but the Eagles failed to retrieve the ball in an attempt to complete the comeback.

George Kittle had a quiet day at work with just 17 yards in four receptions for the Niners.

Sutton’s auspicious day propels Denver

Courtland Sutton’s best game of career saw the Denver Broncos beat the Jacksonville Jaguars 23-13.

Sutton finished the game with nine catches for 159 yards, including a low landing in the third quarter. It was his third career game over 100 yards.

With the Broncos deprived of the services of wide receiver Jerry Jeudy, Sutton has shown he can be the go-to man for quarterback Teddy Bridgewater.

The Broncos are 2-0 for the seventh time in the past nine years and for the first time since 2019.

The Jaguars (0-2), who could not find an answer to Sutton, suffered a 17th consecutive defeat.

Bridgewater completed 26 of his 34 passes for overhead gains of 328 yards. He threw a touchdown pass to Tim Patrick and Noah Fant.

Trevor Lawrence, the first pick in the last NFL Draft, only managed 14 of his 33 passes for gains of 118 yards. He threw a touchdown pass and two interceptions for the Jaguars.

Local back-to-school success in Cleveland; Taylor hurt

Baker Mayfield returned to the game after sustaining a left shoulder injury and threw a touchdown pass in addition to landing one on the ground, leading the Cleveland Browns to a 31-21 victory over the Texans of Houston.

Nick Chubb had a 26-yard rush for a major for the Browns (1-1), who recovered after slipping a lead and victory over the Kansas City Chiefs.

Mayfield completed his 10 passing attempts after being the victim of an interception, in which he injured his left shoulder. He concluded the game with 19 completed passes and overhead gains of 213 yards.

Chubb contributed offensively, scoring 95 yards on 11 carries.

Browns rookie Demetric Felton caught a short pass from Mayfield and put in some great maneuvers to register a 33-yard touchdown.

The Texans (1-1) were tied with their opponents at the half and they were advancing the ball with ease before losing the services of quarterback Tyrod Taylor.

Kupp likes Stafford

The chemistry between Cooper Kupp and Matthew Stafford works very well with the Los Angeles Rams who beat the Indianapolis Colts 27-24.

The receiver grabbed nine balls for an impressive 163 yards and two touchdowns. Darrell Henderson scored his team’s other major with a rush, who finished the game with 53 yards.

Stafford amassed 278 passing yards in the victory. At the Colts, Carson Wentz was the victim of an interception and he joined Zach Pascal for a touchdown. Michael Pittman stood out as the Colts wide receiver with 123 yards as a crop.

Wentz suffered an ankle injury late in the game.
