New Orleans Saints wide receiver Michael Thomas is set to miss at least his first five games early in the season. His name would be placed on the list of players unable to perform physically (PUP) which prevents him from returning to the game before the seventh week of activities according to reports Adam Schefter of the network. ESPN.

The Saints are on leave in Week 6 of NFL activity, however, so Thomas could return to the game in Game 6 for the team in Monday night’s game against the Seattle Seahawks.

Thomas has been kept out since undergoing ankle surgery in June. Earlier in August, Saints coach Sean Payton reported that Thomas’ recovery was going faster than expected.

The delay between the end of the previous season and Thomas’s operation caused a lot of talk in Louisiana. “Obviously we would have liked it to have been done before and honestly it should have been,” Payton said at the start of training camp.

The talented catcher then expressed his displeasure on social media for the blame he was receiving in this story. The situation has eased over the past few weeks, however, as Payton and Thomas have had a phone call to settle their differences. Thomas joined the squad for the first preseason game in Baltimore earlier in August.
