NFL: Brian Hoyer will be Mac Jones’ reservist

Brian Hoyer agreed to a one-year deal moving him from the Patriots’ training squad to the New England regulars.

This is what a source told ESPN, Saturday.

A 35-year-old veteran, Hoyer will be Mac Jones’ reserve at MetLife Stadium against the New York Jets on Sunday.

Hoyer made his NFL debut in 2009 with the Pats. He played 30 of his 70 league games with them.

Hoyer also played for Arizona, Cleveland, Houston, Chicago and Indianapolis.

His most productive season was in 2015 with the Texans: he had 2,606 aerial yards, with 19 touchdowns and seven interceptions.

The Pats started the season losing 17-16 to the Dolphins in Foxborough.

The Jets were beaten 19-14 in Charlotte.
