Unvaccinated NBA players will be subject to more stringent protocols, such as sidelining their vaccinated teammates and submitting to more tests, ESPN reported Thursday.

According to the American channel, which detailed the new non-final protocols for next season, unvaccinated players will be assigned lockers away from other players.

They will also have to sit in different areas, especially during meals and traveling by plane or bus.

Among the other proposals, more frequent tests will be imposed on training and match days, or even twice on match days. In the event of contact with an infected person, unvaccinated players will be subject to a seven-day quarantine.

The rules will be less restrictive for vaccinated players since they will only need a test in case of symptoms or if they are in contact. In the latter case, quarantine would also not be compulsory.

According to ESPN, discussions are still ongoing between the league and the NBA Players Association to define these protocols.

The 2021-2022 regular season begins on October 19.
