NBA – Schröder does not have to play with the 96 – fans vote for 71

Cologne (SID) – The “wrong” shirt number was already very close, but NBA professional Dennis Schröder was lucky: The German basketball star will wear the number 71 after his move to the Boston Celtics – and not the 96. Schröder had his fans vote on the future flocking of his jersey, with 48.84 percent of the participants voting for the winning number. The unloved 96 received at least 41.76 percent of the vote.

The national player had given clear indications before the vote. “As you can imagine, the 96 is not necessarily my favorite because I come from Braunschweig,” said Schröder. The reason for this is the football rivalry between Eintracht Braunschweig and Hannover 96.

Schröder had moved from the Los Angeles Lakers to the Celtics in the summer. At the record champions he could not choose the usual 17 because it was withdrawn from circulation in honor of the club idol John Havlicek. In the end he got the 1 and the 7 in reverse order. According to Schröder, he would have liked to take the 38, but Forward Sam Hauser is already wearing it in Boston.
