MLS: summary of matches in the circuit, including that of Atlanta United ahead of CF Montreal

Atlanta United relegated CF Montreal to seventh in the East with a 3-2 win on Saturday ahead of DC United.

Atlanta United now has 36 points in 25 league games in the East. He is thus ahead of his opponent of the day and the Montreal troops who each occupy the last two ranks giving access to the series with 34 points.

Ezequiel Barco opened the scoring in the 18th minute of play in this meeting for Atlanta. He then made an accomplice on the net of Josef Martinez as his handover allowed the striker to appear alone in front of the goalkeeper whom he foiled without trouble in the 64th minute.

Felipe closed the gap in the 75th minute with an offensive gem. He unleashed a powerful volley shot from outside the box and the ball ended up in the upper half.

Just 12 minutes later, George Bello gave his team back a two-goal cushion which was enough to last until the end of the match.

CF Montreal will face the Chicago Fire on Sunday.

San Jose wins a frenzied match

The San Jose Earthquakes had a thunderous second half to beat Austin FC by a score of 4-3.

The Texan team was able to forge a 3 to 1 lead before returning to the locker room for the break. Sebastian Driussi opened the scoring for Austin in the sixth minute of play. The reply came 11 minutes later when Marcos Lopez headed a Carlos Fierro corner kick into the back of the net.

Jon Gallagher restored the lead to Austin in the 35th minute and in stoppage time Alex Ring converted a strike from a good distance for his fourth goal of the season.

The Earthquakes returned to the field as soon as Cristian Espinoza rocked the strings in the 49th minute.

Two goals from Javier Lopez provided control for the game in San Jose, who kept their lead by taking advantage of a red card given to Ring for an accumulation of yellow cards.

New England 1 – Columbus 1

NA: Adam Buksa scored for the Revs, four minutes after Gyasi Zardes’ net.
CLB: With a harvest of one point, the Crew remain outside the playoff portrait in the East.

Toronto 2 – Nashville 1

TOR: Jacob Shaffelburg and Omar Gonzalez scored for TFC, which ended a nine-game winless streak.
NAS: Nashville missed a great opportunity to extend its lead to 2nd in the East.

Cincinnati 1 – NYCFC 2

CIN: Brenner Souza da Silva gave Cincy the lead in the 4th minute of play.
NYC: The New York response came from Keaton Parks (37th) and Valentin Castellanos on penalty (60th).

Minnesota 3 – Los Angeles (Galaxy) 0

MIN: Emmanuel Reynoso scored two goals
LAG: only two shots on target for the Galaxy

Real Salt Lake 1 – Seattle 0

RSL: Damir Kreilach scored the only goal of the game in the 48th minute
SEA: only two shots on target for the Sounders

Houston 3 – Dallas 2

HOU: Griffin Dorsey set the tone for the game by scoring in the 5th minute of play
DAL: Jader Obrian scored both goals for his team late in the game
