Marcus Stroman did not start negotiating a contract with the Mets

This season, the Mets are fortunate to have Marcus Stroman. After all, Jacob deGrom hasn’t launched in months, Noah Syndergaard has yet to launch in 2021 (it’s coming tonight), Taijuan Walker slowed down and Carlos Carrasco did not deliver the goods.

But Stroman was as regular as a clock. He limited the bad starts in 174 innings of work as evidenced by his average of 3.00.

To think that if the Mets had not been sold last year, Stroman would have taken advantage of his autonomy to leave the organization, with which it did not really click.

Under the current conditions, the Mets cannot afford to watch the pitcher take advantage of his range and quit. They need him to lay the foundations for the 2022 season, which will serve to make people forget the last months of the 2021 season of the club.

Stroman is a guy from New York and everything suggests that under Steve Cohen he could stay. He has yet to start negotiating a new contract, however..

The source of this info? Marcus Stroman himself on his Twitter account.

It is not abnormal to see the players wait until the offseason and in his tweet, Stroman does not necessarily appear angry. Maybe he is, though.

He’ll be a coveted man, but he’s not the only record in the Mets’ rotation. They must find common ground with Noah Syndergaard (who wants to stay) and they may want to add a big name like Max Scherzer, Robbie Ray or Kevin Gausman.

Most importantly, though, they’ll have to make sure that Jacob deGrom, who has an exit option in just over a year, doesn’t feel like quitting.

And in all of this, they shouldn’t forget Stroman, a guy who likes to be felt wanted. Yes, the arrival of a baseball president is urgent in New York.
