The end of the season is not doing good to Jesús Luzardo. The Venezuelan added his eighth setback of the year on Tuesday and the Marlins fell to the Nationals 8-2.
Luzardo pitched 4 1/3 innings of four runs, two walks and a strikeout. His ERA dropped to 6.80 and his record was 5-8.
Ryan Zimmerman opened the board for the Nats with a solo homer in the second inning and Juan Soto extended the lead to 2-0 with a single in the third.
Miami discounted with a home run by Lewin Diaz in the fifth inning.

But Luzardo could not contain the capital’s sluggers and allowed them to score two more at the end of that same episode with a double by Alcides Escobar and a bases loaded walk to Josh Bell.
The Nats sentenced with another four runs in the eighth. And finally the right-hander Erick Fedde won the victory (7-9).
