Lazio’s huge blunder in the last hours of the transfer window: a missed transfer for a badly sent email

The transfer window ended at midnight last night in most countries with a few last minute transactions. But during this final stretch, Lazio made a big mistake which probably cost them a nice transfer. The Roman club had made Filip Kostic, the Frankfurt winger, his priority for the last week of the transfer window.

The Serb was in favor of a transfer but the Germans were greedy, which did not facilitate the transaction. “We are very irritated by Filip’s actions”, was carried away Markus Krösche, the sporting director of Frankfurt this week, “We have always known him as a professional with a strong character, so we are very surprised with his behavior, especially since he is still under contract with us, and there are no offers.”

One last sentence that made Lazio sporting director Igli Tare jump: “6 or 7 days ago I already informed Markus Krösche that we would like to have Kostic. We were then asked to make a written offer. We confirmed it by email, as requested. Then it was said in the press that there was no offer. ”

Except that, as revealed by the Bild newspaper on Tuesday, the email in question never arrived in Frankfurt, because the Romans would have mistaken the email address. A great blunder which would still probably have been of no consequence since there was little chance that Lazio could afford the services of Filip Kostic who will therefore remain at Eintracht Frankfurt.
