Laver Cup is my favorite week of the year

Australian tennis star Nick Kyrgios is looking forward to playing in the Laver Cup. The 26-year-old Kyrgios took part in the first Laver Cup edition in 2017. Kyrgios also played in the Laver Cup in 2018 and 2019. Kyrgios was supposed to play the Laver Cup in 2020 as well, but the event was canceled.

This year’s Laver Cup will take place in the TD Garden in Boston. TD Garden is home to the Boston Celtics, Kyrgios’ favorite NBA team. “The Laver Cup is my favorite week of the year and I love being part of the team,” said Kyrgios.

“Boston fans love their sport. So if we can win the Laver Cup anywhere, TD Garden and Boston, one of the biggest sports cities in the world, are the right places. ”

Kyrgios last played at the US Open

Kyrgios’ campaign at the US Open was short as he suffered a straight-set loss to Roberto Bautista Agut.

Kyrgios was furious about the special towel placement in the square when Carlos Bernardes asked Kyrgios to move his towel closer to the trash cans on the wall behind the baseline after wiping away sweat with it.

The Australian complained to the referee. “Look, in the heat of the moment, it’s never good to be swept off the field, so try to relieve the pressure in many, many ways,” Kyrgios told ABC News.

Kyrgios was also unhappy that as a vaccinated player he was treated like unvaccinated. “Look, the towel situation is incredibly stupid for me,” said Kyrgios. “I’m one of the players on the tour who are fully vaccinated.

And from now on I will be treated the same as a player who is not vaccinated. I have the feeling that if I want my towel in the square, if it doesn’t disturb Bautista Agut’s view, if he doesn’t see the towel, then I don’t see anything wrong with having my towel on the side or on the floor. And it’s just absurd to me. ”
