Jessica von Bredow-Werndl and Isabell Werth shine

PHorses are significantly smarter than many people think. At least in certain moments. Two big stars of their kind, the beautiful and talented mares Dalera and Weihegold, recently demonstrated this again. And now they are masters of the European dressage championships in Hagen, have already won the title with the team and in the Grand Prix Special on Thursday, and if everything goes well, there will be another freestyle on this Saturday (1 p.m. on ARD) more, and all of this with an ease that is only possible if not only the rider but also the horse says yes to the task.

Weihegold not only gave Isabell Werth support in a moment of swaying. She practically carried her away in the Grand Prix Special, helped her to find herself again. In the team competition Jessica von Bredow-Werndl and Dalera had confirmed that they cannot be caught at the moment. And it had become clear that the fight for silver and bronze would be tough against the Danish Cathrine Dufour with Bohemian and the British Charlotte Dujardin with Gio. She had already come to terms with it: in the best case, third place – or even fourth. The day before she was in the bones when, shortly after the award ceremony for the teams, a call came in that her Olympic horse Bella Rose had colic.
