indoor sports are back on track

Without waiting for the Olympic Games effect on the number of licensees, the clubs of Chauvigny savor the renewed pleasure of being able to practice their favorite sport.

At the Tokyo Olympics, the French indoor team sports teams shone with a thousand lights: gold medal for men’s volleyball, men’s and women’s handball, silver medal for men’s basketball and bronze for women’s basketball. Did these exploits reflect on the clubs of Chauvigny? Overview.

Basketball: young people are back in force

ric Guilbaud has been running USC Basket-Ball since 2013. His club normally shelters 130licens. We had a lot of people at the Association Forum, that’s reassuring. Is there an OJ effect, it’s too early to tell. For us, the main thing is to find our players. And what he notices is that the kids have resumed in force the way to the room. In the 7-11 age group, they were twenty in training the other day. They wanted to meet again after a year without seeing each other. On the other hand, the obligation of the sanitary pass forced some adults to stay at home.
The creation of a U20 team represents the great novelty of the season. This new category responds to the desire of the departmental committee not to send young people who have remained without playing for many months to rub shoulders with seniors. The shock would have been too severe. The Covid-19 did not hold back the ambitions of a club turned towards the professionalization of management and the creation of an application.

Handball: The pleasure of playing above all

And one, and two and three co-chairs. USC Handball, Sandrine Brimaud, Anas Labrousse and Mlanie Thvenet are orchestrating a club which hopes to once again reach the bar of 150licens. Last year, we lost nearly 30% of the workforce, reminds Sandrine Brimaud, for three decades on the handball courts. The gold medals of our teams, we talk about it to our young people because it is historic, but we do not yet feel the impact. At the Association Forum, two seniors and about twenty young people showed their interest in joining us. Then there is word of mouth, school and college recruiting.
Sandrine Brimaud knows that non-vaccinated adults have not resumed and is worried about 12-17 year olds who will not have the health pass on September 30 and will be deprived of sports activities in a family club where the pleasure of playing is the priority.

General secretary of USC Volley-Ball (between 70 and 80 license), Michel Louis also coaches teams: In quantitative terms, the OJ effect is not perceptible. The departmental committee must make interventions in the schools of the sector, which should arouse vocations. On the other hand, the training, young people try to imitate the attack gestures of the stars of the France team, like N’Gapeth. Baby volleyball is sold out. We have a strong demand for toddlers who will be 4 to 7 years old in 2022. The fifteen places were taken immediately. We’ll see, it’s an experience. the first session, the parents were happy, the children too.
Among young people, has started again but Michel Louis measures that the pandemic effect is felt on seniors. Less come back. And he too has fears for 12-17 year olds without a health pass, who will have to be told to stay at home from September 30.
