France-Bosnia (1-1): “We cannot be satisfied with this draw, but we are looking ahead”, reacts Lloris

For his 130th selection, Hugo Lloris failed to keep his clean sheet this Wednesday in Strasbourg, against Bosnia-Herzegovina (1-1). Passing through a press conference after the meeting, the last bulwark of the Blues analyzes the French performance.

You have the impression that you played more liberated after the expulsion. Is that your feeling too?

HUGO LLORIS. I found our start rather interesting, even if there was some waste. We slowed down a bit at the end of the first half, we conceded this goal a little against the course of the game and luckily we came back before the break. Then, the second half is a whole different game with the expulsion of Jules (Editor’s note: Koundé) but despite that there were good intentions. I found us solid, we concede few chances in the second half and we could have created clear chances, it didn’t come down to much. There is disappointment because we wanted the three points, but given the physiognomy we will be content with this point and prepare for the two upcoming matches.

How did you find the connection between defense and midfield?

We found ourselves very high on the pitch most of the time, especially in the first half where there were long phases of possession. Faced with low blocks, you have to know how to handle the ball even more quickly, try to fix the opponent. It’s easy to say again, but there was quality in the face. There are facts of the game that are contrary to us in this game and we will continue to work to improve.

Will the group need time to digest the Euro?

The Euro is a thing of the past, we are on a new impetus, it’s a new season, it’s a back-to-school match, we are all at different levels of preparation. We are judged on the results, today we cannot be satisfied with this draw, but we are looking ahead. In March, we started with a draw against Ukraine and that did not prevent us from taking 6 points out of 6 in the following matches.

What did you think of the atmosphere?

It was wonderful. The supporters deserved a better game, a better outcome with a victory. They are there to support the players, the France team. This communion is important to us, we have this duty of performance and results.
