There is another crash between Schumacher and Mazepin
Stand: 5:08 p.m.| Reading time: 3 minutes
The feud between Mick Schumacher and Nikita Mazepin is entering a new round. After the race in Zandvoort, the German criticized his team-mate sharply – and gave a relentless insight into everyday team life.
Und again the teammate is causing trouble. The Dutch Grand Prix in Zandvoort ended in 18th place for Mick Schumacher and thus at the bottom. At the end of the race, the 22-year-old was three laps behind the winner, Max Verstappen. The reason for this was a scene in the first round.
Shortly after the start, Schumacher’s front wing broke when his team-mate Nikita Mazepin almost pushed him off the track with a tough maneuver. Schumacher had to go into the pits to replace the broken grand piano. The race was over for him afterwards. The Haas pilot stayed last and had no chance of getting close.
“I’m very angry today too. I didn’t say anything about the radio today because it didn’t make sense in Baku either. It’s just a shame. He ruined my race because my front wing was broken and I had to come into the pits, ”said Schumacher, giving free rein to his displeasure after the race.
Schumacher alluded to an incident from the past: In Baku / Azerbaijan there was already a similar maneuver by Mazepin. At that time, the Russian had almost pushed Schumacher into the wall at around 300 km / h. A dangerous and unnecessary maneuver on the narrow street circuit where the next wall is never far away. And before that, Mazepin had already attracted attention several times due to his dangerous driving style.
Icy mood at Haas
So now there is another dispute in the Haas team. “It was dangerous. If I drive into the wall in the pit lane, the car goes up in the air and maybe on the spectators or the devil knows what can happen there. We drive 280 km / h there, ”said Schumacher about the scene at the race in the Netherlands.
And mazepin? He is not aware of any guilt. “I stayed in front, followed the rules and did a good job,” said the 22-year-old. When asked whether you should show a little consideration for your team-mate, he said: “It doesn’t matter, I have to stay in front of every other driver.”
Even after qualifying on Saturday, the two drivers had hardly found friendly words for each other. The mood has been icy for weeks. “I’ve never had a situation like this within the team. This is new territory for me, ”emphasized Schumacher.
The karma hit a bit: Mazepin had to park his Haas after 43 laps with hydraulic problems, so he couldn’t even finish the race.
