Football: FC Sète is reassured on its lawn and takes a little height (3-1)

Nicolas Guibal’s men, in danger in the standings after three straight defeats, raised the bar this Friday, September 3 against Créteil.

It was already a high-stakes game. Penultimate in the N1 ranking, the Sétois absolutely had to react to a Cristolian team with the same balance sheet.

Difficult start and good reaction

A complicated situation that even became urgent after twenty minutes of play. On a free kick from Flochon from the left wing after an avoidable foul, Dabo appeared at the far post to score, from close range, with a header (0-1, 20e). In the stands, we started to sweat …

But FC Sète, despite the blow to the head, got up. Upon receiving a cross from Hakkar, Koffi was defeated by Mandanda at the cost of a beautiful parade (26th). On the next action, Konaté overflowed on the left wing and offered a golden ball to Hakkar at the far post, but the shot unfortunately went above (27 ‘). The same Konaté, a minute later, saw his strike rejected by the defense (28th).

The tide is turning

The reaction, although poorly paid, was honorable. But the Cristoliens were still there and it took an attentive Pappalardo to repel a shot from Flochon before Chergui, on recovery, found the small net (31st).

The Sète goalkeeper stood out again after the break by punching a shot from Chergui (50 ‘). Thank you Pappalardo, because the rest could have been different without his intervention. The rest, precisely, finally saw the tide turn. On a free kick perfectly shot by Phliponeau, Hakkar rose in the air to place an uncrossed header that freed FC Sète (1-1, 53e).

Numerically superior on the hour mark

Fofana, who had just been warned by Mr. Dos Santos, committed another fault and received a second yellow card in seven minutes, leaving Créteil outnumbered. And the least we can say is that he will not have been of service to his team … The end of the match was indeed one-sided. Phliponeau, on a masterful 25-meter free kick, left Mandanda no chance and Sète took the advantage (2-1, 74e).

Dzabana frees his family

Then a miracle was needed to allow the visiting doorman to slam the ball for a corner on a point blank shot from Dzabana (82nd), but the penalty ended up arriving. A strike from Arslan was slowed down by the defense and Dzabana, who appeared to be in an offside position, took advantage of the situation to win his duel with Mandanda (3-1, 88e).

The relief could be read on the faces of Sète. Nicolas Guibal and his family are reassured, it is now up to them to capitalize on the rest of their journey.
