The Héria animal park, in Doucier (Jura), also bears the name of the Hérisson park.
But don’t expect to see hedgehogs there. This name comes simply from the fact that the park is located near the Hérisson waterfalls.
On the other hand, many animals live there: yaks, mouflons, hawks, bison, deer, aurochs… As well as the domestic animals of the farmyard.
And these animals are to be discovered in an original and fun way. With the possibility of touching, caressing, feeding, having fun, learning and understanding.
Animal encounters
Animal encounters come in several ways.
The baby-farmer course concerns children from 2 to 6 years old, accompanied by an adult. It constitutes a first approach to feeding. And care for animals.
The apprentice farmer course is intended for adults and children over 6 years old. It allows you to go a little further in the discovery of the profession of farmer. And also to participate in the feeding and care of farm animals.
Other possibilities: an immersion in the aviary of the budgerigars. An encounter with the European eagle owl, or with bison.
Falconry courses
Many birds of prey live in Héria park: eagle owls, steppe eagles, buzzards, hawks …
Falconry courses allow you to get to know these fascinating birds better. Three possible formulas: a first approach of two hours. A one-day discovery with half-board. Or a two-day introductory course with full board.
The opportunity to learn to wear a bird of prey on your fist, to make reminders with the glove … and to experience strong emotions.
Unusual horseback riding
The park also offers unusual riding courses. To discover archery on horseback. Or falconry on horseback. Or the art of whisperers, to dance with the horses.
Or simply a horseback ride in unspoiled nature.
The riding school is open to everyone, from beginners to seasoned riders. As well children, as adults or adolescents.
The common point of these equestrian activities: complicity, confidence and a privileged relationship with the horse or the pony.
Trailer or room
To fully enjoy all the activities of the parc, the best is to sleep on the spot. Or in unusual accommodation: a trailer, fitted out to accommodate four people, with a view of the beautiful Lac du Val.
Or in the family rooms (4 to 6 people) of the farm. Simple and warm.
Meals are made from farm products.
