Cantlay wins the Tour Championship

The American had the final say in the last tournament of the season and pockets a $ 15 million check promised to the winner.

The American Patrick Cantlay won the Tour Championship on Sunday at the end of the 4th round, ahead of the Spaniard Jon Rahm. Cantlay, who had been leading since day one, birdied the 18th hole, returning a card of 69 on Sunday. This allows him to win the check for $ 15 million promised to the winner.

«It makes me feel like something huge. I played well today. I don’t realize yet. I kept telling myself to stay focused and I did a great job today», Cantlay congratulated after his victory.

This tournament is part of the FedEx Cup triptych, which closes the North American PGA Tour season, and also includes the Northern Trust, won by Tony Finau, and the BMW Championship, won by Cantlay.

The American entered the tournament with a two-stroke lead thanks to the scaled scoring system which awarded strokes to the 30 participants based on their place in the play-off standings. He led each day, followed by Rahm, who put a lot of pressure but could not pass him and ended a stroke behind.
