Bruno Chautard crowned King of the Bird for the third time

The King of the Bird archery competition was won on Sunday by Bruno Chautard, from Coubon. This is his third coronation after 2005 and 2008.

Nicknamed “the king” within his brotherhood of bows in hand, Bruno Chautard nurtures his reputation as an expert archer. This Sunday, he became King of the Bird for the third time. A unique performance in the history of this competition which also takes into account the evolution of the regulations which today allow a former winner to try his luck again.

At the beginning, there were 441 archers, novices or experts, to apply. This Sunday, at the end of the 2021 edition of the Renaissance festivals, they were eight in the final for adults and as many for young people (146 children candidates).

Coubonnais Bruno Chautard was the most consistent to pass the quarterfinals and then the semi-finals. Opposed to Benjamin Gaucher, a Stéphanois who owns a second home in Coubon and already lost in the princes’ final a few years ago, he put his third arrow in the heart of the bird.

Among the children, it is a 12-year-old Hérault who was crowned. Colin Dumas, who started archery at the age of 5, took the upper hand over the other finalist, Camille Coulet, 12, from Chaspinhac.
