As well as the whole basic round went for the Schremser Beers, the play-offs ended disappointingly for the Granitstädter, who had already hoped for the fourth championship title. Instead of a final at Beers Field in Eugenia, there is at most one game for third place after two defeats in the play-offs.
But first things first: The finalists of the national baseball league were determined from among the top 4 teams in the regular round in the “page play-off system”. Only the top two (Beers and Traiskirchen Grasshoppers II) played against each other – the winner is in the final. Subsequently, the teams that were worse placed (Danube Titans and Schwechat Blue Bats II) matched each other – the winner then ultimately plays off the second place in the final with the loser of the first game.

After they had lost to the Traiskirchen Grasshoppers II the previous week, there was nothing to be gained this time either. The Beers, again missing four regular players, started with Daniel Spazierer as pitcher, who showed a strong performance, but was let down by his defense. In addition, the Beers batter had their problems with the hard and fast throws of the Grasshoppers pitchers. Only center fielder Matthias Geist was able to exert some pressure. The course of the game was tight until the end, but you never had the impression that the tide could turn.
After seven innings and 6:11 the Beers had to play the game of hope against the Schwechat Blue Bats II. There was a Bundesliga proven thrower at the mound, which posed problems for the Schremser offense. First Michael Meindl-Mayerhofer pitched for the Beers, later Peter Schmid. Again, the defensive department was not in shape, allowed points and basel runners again and again. On top of that, a mighty 3-run home run set a mark at the start. The Beers did not recover from that, clearly losing 2:13 after seven innings.
The title dreams are thus shattered. A bitter afternoon for the Schremser Beers, as they had already been hoping for the fourth championship title, exactly 20 years after the first. So now there is only the small final for third place. Whether this will take place in Eugenia. Opponent Danube Titans was still skeptical about the long journey at the time of going to press.
