Austria just missed the victory against Germany

At the end of the International Baseball Weekend, Team Austria narrowly missed its first win on Sunday. The Austrians led at Ducksfield Wiener Neustadt against Germany up to the eighth inning with 4: 1. But the German selection came back again and finally celebrated a walk-off win with 5: 4.

On Friday, Austria and Germany faced each other at the start of the International Baseball Weekend at Ducksfield in Wiener Neustadt – red-white-red lost 5: 8 after five good innings. Team Austria got off to a better start on Sunday and quickly took a 2-0 lead. After the German selection had also succeeded in a run, the Austrians made it 3-1 in the fifth inning and let another run follow in the next section. At 4: 1 it stayed until the eighth inning. The team from Germany came up to 4: 3. While the team of head coach Hiro Sakanashi could not improve offensively, the Germans turned the game around in the last inning and celebrated a walk-off win with 5: 4.

Team travels to Italy on Wednesday
The national team prepares for the next two days in Vienna for the European baseball championship in Piemonte (12-19 September). On Wednesday the team will travel to Italy, where another test match against Sweden is on the program on Thursday as a final assessment of the situation. The title fights begin on Sunday with the encounter against Belgium. In the group stage, head coach Hiro Sakanashi’s team will also meet hosts Italy and Greece.
