Sergi arranz carries the goal in his blood. The 31-year-old from Figueres joined theOlot with a clear premise: see goal. His record, with 46 goals in three seasons in the Terrace, which helped the Egarenc ensemble to achieve promotion to the Second RFEF, endorses it and now hopes to do the same at the club la Garrotxa as a result of the descent to the Third RFEF. For now, the start could not be more promising with a goal to sentence the victory against him Castelldefels in the first game of League (3-1). “I was mentalized to score,” he says.

The striker beat the goalkeeper Romero in the 70th minute: “When Castelldefels scored, we went straight to play at home. Moha (Abouhafs) he had the option to pass it to me inside the area in a counterattack and I was able to cut with a shot to the short post ”. Arranz emphasizes that “seeing how the first day went, it is very important to start on a good footing”. Olot was one of the five teams (Girona B, Guineueta, Saints i San Cristobal) who started the season with victory. Best impossible, debut and goal. “It’s important that they arrive early,” he says.

After deciding to close his three-year stint at Terrassa, with whom he still had a contract, Arranz became one of the most coveted strikers in the category. Olot’s interest did not come to him again. “During the pandemic, when they were still in Second B, we already had the first contact. At the time, I couldn’t combine it with my job (it’s a dentist), but it was. I had more proposals and the one that suited me best was the one in Olot. We agreed very quickly, ”he explains.

The good relationship he has with the coach Albert Carbó it also influenced it. “I had never had such a young master. We have known each other for a long time. It may be a bit shocking because we have a friendship outside, but we know how to put it aside on the pitch. Ages don’t matter. It’s about everyone taking their role, working and achieving the maximum results so that Olot is where it belongs, ”he says. In addition, he is attracted by the entity’s commitment to having a fairly Girona staff: “Most of the teams I’ve been to speak more Spanish, but it’s different here. You feel more at home. There are a lot of players I knew and it’s easier, although it has been in the rest of the locker rooms as well. In Olot there is a special air.

Those of Carbó have the great challenge to ascend to the Second RFEF. And, to do that, the technician has a group that is practically new. “The staff is quite young. In fact, theEloi (Hidden) and I am the most veteran. Maybe we’re still missing some pieces, but I think the team is very competitive. We have to take the results home as we did on Sunday and I’m sure they will come out as well “, he points out. At the same time, however, Arranz recalls that “the League it will be very long ”:“ We will all go through good and bad times. What we have to do is be as regular as possible and if at some point we go through a bump, don’t get lost. His experience with about a hundred targets between Third and First Catalan will be key. “I don’t look at the numbers from other seasons, but what is clear is that scoring goals always helps. Everything is trust. I’m one more of the eleven we play on the field and if I score it’s thanks to them. It is a reflection of the work that everyone does.
