Alexa Guarachi (16th) is experiencing the best moment of her career as a doubles player. The player born in the United States, but who chose to play for Chile, reached the semifinals of the US Open for the first time, along with her partner, local Desirae Krawczyk (19th). The pair beat the Romanians Mónica Nicolescu (60th) and Elena Gabriela Ruse (206th), by 6-7 (5), 6-2 and 6-3, in two hours and 25 minutes of the game.
The meeting process could have been much easier. In fact, the Chilean-American pairing had the possibility of closing the first set. They were with a break up. However, they missed the opportunities and their rivals took the chapter to the tiebreaker, where they were more precise. A little earlier, the national representative received medical attention for a foot problem, but was able to move on.
